The Shark Angling Club of Great Britan has been the premier organisation promoting Shark Fishing in the UK since 1953.
The Welsh Federation of Sea Anglers is the Governing Body of Sea Angling in Wales.
The Angling Trust is the representative body for game, coarse and sea anglers in England and Wales.
Founded in 1979, the SCBI is the UK's premier club for Big Game anglers.
Following the return since 2016 of Bluefin to large swathes of the UK's Western waters, it became increasingly apparent to me that there existed an opportunity to develop a world class, sustainable Recreational Bluefin Tuna fishery in the UK.
Discussions with Charter skippers with experience of these fish in our waters, and numerous experienced big game anglers confirmed there was the desire and expertise to help make this happen.
With the help and support of the Committee and members of the Sportfishing Club of the British Isles, (SCBI), I set about building alliances with others share that vision.
I am very pleased to say that we have met with great enthusiasm from a wide range of individuals and organisations.
Most notably, I am very pleased to have as a key partner in our Campaign the Angling Trust. As the only officially recognised representative organisation for anglers they have much to offer us.
As the links above indicate, we have the support of Charter Captains, tackle manufacturers and retailers, National and International fishing organisations, and more. More are joining as word of our Campaign spreads.
Working together I believe our group, BLUEFIN TUNA UK, can make a compelling case to the authorities of the benefits of establishing a valuable, sustainable fishery that sets a new worldwide benchmark for the effective management of these Iconic fish.
